The Rockingham Regional Song Contest Awards night is done and dusted!
The winners were:
The Milkmen (Two awards for Best Back Catalogue and Best Music Video)
Best Instrumental went to Steve Frawley
Most Creative Cover Version went to LoiseE.
The Song of The Year had two runners up, Steve Parkins and LoiseE (even with 9 judges, they couldn't be separated!) and the winner was a fairy tale for a sixteen year old who has only released one song, Zaidin Van Zyl.
Jason Carroll from DRN1 streaming radio was on hand, you can listen to DRN1 on your computer or phone. He already has interviewed several people and played their songs, which is really what it is alll about, getting songs air time. He said that the reponse was exceptional regarding Zaidin Van Zyl and Loise E, both from Baldivis, and that matched the judges thinking, too. Jason will be interviewing other winners and playing their songs. How cool is that?
There were also a couple of Captains Pick trophies, the Hayley Ayres trophy for Rising Star award went to Loise E for winning the Most Creative Cover Version and having three songs in the top six in the Song of the Year category.
The Minky Gardner trophy for Videographer of the year went to Mark Anderson of Rewindw2Play who spent countless hours producing the video presentation.
Looks like the Rockingham Regional Song Contest is here to stay!
